Appearance
Maractus looks like a flowering cactus. Two spiky ear-like extensions each end in a pink flower with a yellow center. Its arms end in three yellow spines, and spikes form a star at its base.

When it sways, it sounds like maracas and dances to drive off predators, especially birds that want its seeds. Once a year it scatters rich seeds across the desert.
In the anime
Toby's three Maractus, Marra, Racca, and Tussy, fail at the contest and against Ash's Pikachu, Tepig, and Snivy. A wild Scolipede's attack finally breaks their block.
Name origin
It suggests a prickly pear, a maraca, and a bunny-ears cactus, in traditional Mexican dress. Maractus may combine maraca and cactus.
