About 95% of it is poisonous gas. It haunts caves and ruins, can stun and suffocate, and evolves into Haunter, then Gengar.

A talking Gastly posed as a woman said to have turned to stone after two thousand years, and toyed with young men.
Name origin
It suggests a cloud of poisonous gas and Japanese spirit-lights. The line shows a ghost just starting to enter the living world. Gastly blends gas, ghastly, and ghostly.
