Its story
Lifestyle
It evolves from Shellos and lives on shores, feeding mainly on plankton. When threatened it flees while oozing a bitter purple fluid, and heals within hours.
In the anime
Zoey's Gastrodon, evolved from her Shellos, helps her reach the Sinnoh Grand Festival finals. Cynthia's faces Iris and Ash in the Masters Eight.
Name origin
The design draws on a sea slug. Gastrodon may combine gastropod with don, a suffix used in dinosaur names.
Did you know?
- Only a thin hard plate remains of the shell that once covered its back.
- The two forms clash fiercely: West Sea has declined while East Sea has grown.
- In 2021, Year of the Ox, it appeared beside Tauros, Miltank, and Bouffalant.
