Its story
Lifestyle
It hides in shadows, cools the air by about 5 °C, and steals life force. Mischievous yet loyal if treated well, it evolves by trade and stays rare, mostly in caves.
In the anime
At Professor Cerise's laboratory, Ash catches a Gengar abandoned out of fear. After Allister's Max Soup, it becomes the first in the series able to Gigantamax.
Name origin
Its English name Gengar, like Japanese Gangar, may come from Doppelgänger, the malicious double. In French the name comes from ectoplasm.
