Its story

Appearance

Goldeen is a white fish marked with orange, with blue eyes, pink lips, and a large forehead horn, bigger on males. Its flowing tail looks like a ballroom dress.

Lifestyle

Wild-tempered, it smashes out of an aquarium with its horn. Common in fresh water, it swims upstream in spring. It is called the Water Dancer. It evolves into Seaking.

In the anime

An angry Goldeen badly injures Pikachu with its horn after a Squirtle knocks him into a lake.

Name origin

Goldeen blends goldfish, or golden, and queen. Its look suggests the tosakin, a curly-fantail goldfish, and its horn may refer to Matsya, an avatar of Vishnu.
