Its story

Appearance

Seadra is a light blue, seahorse-like Pokémon with a cream belly of rough scales. It has a long tubular snout, spiny fins, and a large coiled tail.

Lifestyle

It swims facing forward and swallows prey worn out by a whirlpool. The male guards the young, fiercer, with thickened venom. It evolves from Horsea into Kingdra.

In the anime

On film, Mewtwo captures and clones Fergus's Seadra. Goh saves one from a Sharpedo, then Seadra helps him find a Kingdra.

Name origin

Seadra blends sea and dragon, and hints at seahorse and the Hydra. It is based on a seahorse, possibly spiny: lionfish fins, squid ink, and a water-gun snout.

Did you know?

Its venom can make a human faint, yet traditional medicine still prizes it.
In Japanese, seahorse means "illegitimate child of a dragon," hence its Dragon category.
It nests between coral branches or anchors itself to them.
