Its story

Appearance

Growlithe is an orange dog with black stripes, and a beige muzzle, chest, and tail. Its ears are large and triangular, cream on the inside.

Lifestyle

Loyal and brave, it defends its Trainer and territory, even against a stronger foe. Its nose never forgets a scent. It lives on grassy plains and evolves into Arcanine.

In the anime

James's childhood Growlithe, Growlie, stays loyal after he left home. Before Black & White, Officer Jenny often used Growlithe as police dogs.

Name origin

It echoes guardian statues such as shisa or komainu, lion-dogs, plus tiger striping. Growlithe blends growl and lithe.
