Hippowdon is a large hippo-like Pokémon. Males are light brown and females bluish-gray, with a dark gray hole-pierced back and muzzle, red eyes, and a mouth over two meters wide.

Lifestyle
Short-tempered, it crushes cars and whips up twisters with the sand it stores. It usually lives in deserts and evolves from Hippopotas.
In the anime
A male, the father of the Hippopotas Ash rescued, is targeted by Cassidy and Butch. Later, Bertha's male defeats Ash's Torterra.
Name origin
It is based on a hippopotamus, and its sand spouts may echo Bahamut, which supports a bed of sand and has a hippo's head. Hippowdon may blend hippopotamus with power, powder, or pow.
