Appearance
Luxray looks like a full-grown lion. Face, torso, hind legs, and the backs of its forelegs are blue; black fur forms a mane over the rest. A thin tail ends in a yellow four-pointed star.

Lifestyle
Its eyesight sees through most objects, like an X-ray, to hunt and track its young. This spends much electricity. Luxray live in packs and evolve from Luxio.
In the anime
Clemont's Luxio becomes a Luxray while saving its Trainer. The Luxray Sorrel befriended as a child dies protecting him, lost in a blizzard.
Name origin
Luxray may blend lux, Latin for "light", lynx, and X-ray. The design recalls the sphinx and an adult male lion.
