Its story
Lifestyle
Final form of Nidoran♀, it arises from Nidorina with an Evolution stone. Fierce when defending its young, it poisons with its spikes and stays rare on savannas and plains.
In the anime
Mewtwo clones Fergus's Nidoqueen. In Mewtwo Returns, with a cloned Rhyhorn, it lays Eggs that hatch into baby Nidoqueen, not Nidoran♀.
Name origin
Ken Sugimori designed it, most likely after Nidoking. The name, the same in English, joins needle and queen.
Did you know?
- When guarding its young, it tucks them between its spikes, which then release no poison.
- Several Pokédex entries call it a mother, though evolving removes the ability to breed.
- The cream pieces on the chest and lower belly suggest a two-piece.
