Its story

Appearance

Ninetales is a canine in thick golden-white fur, with a short mane, a fluffy crest, and nine tails tipped pale orange. Its eyes are red.

Lifestyle

Smart enough to understand people, Ninetales curses anyone who mistreats it. That curse can last a thousand years, and even Ninetales cannot lift it. It evolves from Vulpix with a Fire Stone.

In the anime

Blaine's Ninetales defeated Ash's Squirtle in their first Gym battle, then was recalled when Charizard came out.

Name origin

Atsuko Nishida designed it after the nine-tailed fox of Japanese folklore. The English name echoes the early drafts Ninetai and Nine Tales.
