Its story

Appearance

Noivern is a large, draconic Pokémon that looks like a bat. It is black, with a purple belly, turquoise wings, loudspeaker-like ears, and a white mane.

Lifestyle

It has a violent temper but calms with ripe fruit. Ultrasonic waves from its ears shatter boulders; unbeatable in the dark, it grows timid in the light and evolves from Noibat.

In the anime

Ash's Noibat becomes a Noivern while saving Hawlucha and battling a Zapdos. Later, Drasna's Noivern loses to Ash's Dracovish.

Name origin

It joins a wyvern, a bat, and a loudspeaker, a mix that may allude to Dracula, from the Latin draco, “dragon”. Noivern may combine noise and wyvern.
