Lifestyle
A lost child's spirit is said to possess a stump. It seeks friends, but its cries lead people astray. It evolves into Trevenant.

Several Phantump, including a Shiny, debut when Ash helps the Shiny get home to the top of a mountain.
Name origin
The name Phantump may blend phantom and stump. It suggests a kodama stump, a spirit of very old trees, as well as dryads.
