Appearance
Phione is blue, with a round head and a very small body. A flotation sac crowns its head, a red gem marks its chest, and one spike serves as a foot.

Lifestyle
It hatches from an Egg laid by Manaphy, but never becomes Manaphy. It drifts underwater with its sac and always returns to where it was born.
In the anime
In Chocovine Town, one Phione grows fond of Dawn's Buneary, then grows jealous of Pikachu. Team Rocket captures it, but it escapes.
Name origin
Its name may recall Greek philia, "friendship," Clione, and Pleione, an Oceanid. Its shape comes from sea angels, common in Hokkaido, the region Sinnoh is based on.
