Appearance
Pidgeotto has the build of a bird of prey, with brown plumage, a cream face and underside, and a pinkish-red crest. Its tail alternates red and yellow, and its beak and legs are pink.

Its story
Lifestyle
A strong flier, it carries prey several miles and fiercely defends a territory of more than 60 miles, mostly in temperate forests. It evolves from Pidgey and evolves into Pidgeot.
In the anime
Ash catches one that stays on his team until it becomes a Pidgeot, then releases it to protect a flock of wild Pidgey and Pidgeotto.
Name origin
Despite its name, it looks more like a bird of prey, such as an osprey or an eagle, than a pigeon. Pidgeotto may blend pigeon with the Italian diminutive -otto.

- In the English beta of Red and Green, it was called Pidgeott, later given to its evolution.
- The black markings around its eyes suggest Ra and Horus, gods shown with falcon heads.
- Two toes point forward and one backward, and powerful talons seize prey.
