Poliwag is a blue, spherical tadpole. Its large eyes and pink lips work as suction cups and cling to rocks. Thin skin shows the spiral of its organs.

Its story
Lifestyle
A poor walker with no arms, it swims powerfully with its tail. It lives in ponds and lakes, and evolves into Poliwhirl, then Poliwrath or Politoed.
In the anime
Misty catches one: it becomes Poliwhirl, then Politoed. The Trainers' School also lends one to Max, who helps defeat Team Rocket.
Name origin
Its model is the tadpole, and the spiral echoes organs seen in glass frogs. Poliwag comes from polliwog, an old word for tadpole.
