Appearance
A blue, bipedal amphibian with a round body. Bulbous eyes stick out, its hands look like white gloves, and its feet have no toes. A black-and-white belly swirl shows its organs through very thin skin.

Its story
Lifestyle
Its swirl ripples and makes anyone who stares drowsy. Slippery mucus frees it from a grasp. It prefers ponds and lakes, evolves from Poliwag, and can become Poliwrath or Politoed.
In the anime
Misty caught hers as a Poliwag; it later evolves into a Politoed. Vincent's Poliwhirl loses to Macy's Quilava despite a type advantage.
Name origin
The design blends tadpole and frog: the spiral suggests visible organs and a hypnotic spiral. Poliwhirl joins polliwog, an old word for tadpole, and whirl.
