Its story

Appearance

Rampardos is a large, dark-gray dinosaur-like Pokémon. A pearl-like dome hides its red eyes. Blue stripes and spikes mark its head, neck, knees, wrists, and tail.

Lifestyle

Brutal by nature, one headbutt charge can fell nearly anything, and its steel-hard skull does not give way even against another charging Rampardos. It evolves from Cranidos.

In the anime

Roark's Cranidos evolves after Meowth's net. In Ash's Gym rematch, Rampardos beats Aipom and Pikachu, then falls to Turtwig.

Name origin

It draws on the pachycephalosaurus and its thick skull roof, used for headbutts, and the unstoppable force facing Bastiodon the shield. The name may join rampart, ram or rampage, and hard, with Cranidos.

Did you know?

Long after it vanished, ancient people dug up its massive skulls and wore them as helmets.
Its brain is even smaller than Cranidos's, which may have led the species to extinction.
Once revived and then evolved, one Rampardos broke free and destroyed a skyscraper.
