Rayquaza is immense, long, and emerald green, like both a serpent and a missile. Ten segments form its body, four blades make an X on its head, and red-tipped fins act as rudders.

Several millennia ago it halted Groudon and Kyogre's clashes and restored order to nature. It lives in the ozone layer, steers the winds, and longs to do heroic deeds.

A Shiny Rayquaza, one of adventurer Lucius's Six Heroes, emerges from Roy's Ancient Poké Ball and is released to return Laqua to its original state.
Name origin
The name is the same in French, English, German, and Japanese. It may come from rayon and quasar, and it echoes Aztec deities with a similar outline.
