Its story
Lifestyle
It evolves from Morelull and lives in dark forests, competing with Parasect. Its spores make prey drowsy, then it drains their energy through its arms.
In the anime
Several first appeared after evolving from Morelull that Ash and his classmates had already met.
Name origin
It may be based on glowing Mycena and Amanita fungi. Shiinotic may blend shiitake, shine, and hypnotic: the cap shines like a lamp, and its lights mislead like will-o'-the-wisps.
