Its story

Appearance

Skarmory is a silver-gray bird with a long metallic-blue neck, legs, and tail. Steel armor coats it; it has a toothed beak, yellow eyes, a triangular crest, and red feathers under its wings.

Lifestyle

Its hollow wings reach 185 miles per hour and grow back each year, sharper than any sword. In rain it rusts and stays in the nest. Mega Evolved, it flies faster than sound.

In the anime

Miki's Skarmory defeats Brock's Vulpix, then loses the next day to Ash's Cyndaquil after Team Rocket interrupts the battle.

Name origin

It recalls the Andean condor, cranes, and the wyvern; its wings suggest a paper fan. Skarmory may blend sky with armory or armor.
