« They fire beams from the glassy, magenta orbs that resemble eyes atop their heads, and they drift in shallow seas. During low tide, they can sometimes be found on beaches, desiccated. »
Its story
Lifestyle
A poor swimmer, it drifts at the surface of shallow seas and blends into the water. Its stinging tentacles break off, then grow back. It evolves into Tentacruel.
In the anime
Many Tentacool attack Nastina's construction site. She offers one million dollars. One becomes a giant Tentacruel, until Misty ends the rampage.
Name origin
Ken Sugimori designed it like a jellyfish with the bulging eyes of 1950s B-movies. Tentacool joins tentacle and cool.
Did you know?
- Water makes up 99% of its body; the rest only makes its poison.
- Washed ashore, it shrivels but stays dangerous; thrown back to sea, it may recover.
- People sometimes think it is related to Toedscool, but the two species are not.
