It has eighty tentacles, which it lengthens to snare prey before freezing it with poison. Seldom seen, it lives in underwater rocks and evolves from Tentacool.
In the anime
A giant Tentacruel attacks Porta Vista with Tentacool because Nastina plans a hotel there. Ash's Pikachu and Misty convince it to stop.
Name origin
Tentacruel combines tentacle and cruel. Its look suggests a jellyfish, a Portuguese man-of-war, and the bug-eyed invaders of 1950s B-movies.
