Its story
Lifestyle
A flame sac burns in its belly, so it feels warm when hugged. When attacked, it shoots fireballs. It evolves into Combusken, then Blaziken.
In the anime
It is May's first Pokémon and the species' debut in the series. It later evolves into Combusken, then Blaziken.
Name origin
Torchic combines torch and chick. It is based on a baby chicken, especially painted festival chicks, and maybe the basan, a legendary fire-breathing chicken.
