Appearance
Toxicroak is a dark blue and teal biped, like a poison dart frog. Its yellow eyes have a snakelike pupil, a red vocal sac bulges under the chin, and red claws arm its hands.

Lifestyle
It is swift, dodges well, and strengthens its poison by croaking: claws, stings, or a touch can poison. It lives near water and evolves from Croagunk.
In the anime
It debuts with Saturn of Team Galactic and rivals Brock's Croagunk. Later, several angry Toxicroak chase Ash and his friends off a cliff.
Name origin
It is based on the poison dart frog, and its claws recall the hairy frog and a ninja's wrist knives. Toxicroak may combine toxic and croak.
Did you know?
- Diluted with grasses and cooked about two days, its poison becomes a tonic.
- Asleep, it uses its sac as a cushion and punches, as if practicing Poison Jab in a dream.
