Lifestyle
It lives camouflaged on volcanoes and eats sulfur, which loads its shell with explosives. It strikes itself with its tail to blast prey; rain dampens this power.
In the anime
Kiawe's male Turtonator debuts in Alola to New Adventure!, where both the Trainer and the species first appear. Against Tupp, Zipp, and Rapp, it shows extreme power and defense.
Name origin
It blends the mata mata turtle with a land mine: the shell is a simplified explosion. Turtonator joins turtle and detonator.
