Venomoth is a purple, moth-like insect. It has large round light-blue eyes, a three-pointed crest, and four pale purple wings with thin black veins, often translucent.

Its story
Lifestyle
Dark wing scales are poisonous and pale ones can paralyze; they scatter when it flutters. Nocturnal, it hunts in dense forests. It evolves from Venonat.
In the anime
Koga’s Venomoth appears when his Venonat evolves against Ash in a Gym battle. It fights Pidgeotto, then Charmander, before Team Rocket interrupts the match.
Name origin
Venomoth may combine venom and moth. It seems based on toxic moths, and perhaps on lacewings drawn to light.

- Pokémon Adventures states that it has a short lifespan.
- With Dustox, it is the Poison Moth Pokémon.
- Early art showed yellow spots on the wing backs, later removed.
