It absorbs life energy to strengthen itself, then seals itself in a cocoon. With Xerneas, it watches over the land between life and death.
In the anime
Waking from its cocoon, it turns Ash's Pikachu to stone. Xerneas's Fairy Aura then calms it, and it flies away in peace.
Name origin
Its silhouette follows the letter Y. The name, the same in French, may come from Y, yvel (“evil”), and quetzal.
